The cill is the material that the frame sits on external, if required.

The height of the cill is 30mm, the different depth options will distinguish the overhang from the frame, which will be 70mm shorter than the size stated as this is the width of the frame.

A trickle vent is an opening that is fitted into the opening vent at the top of the frame.

A trickle vent allows a small amount of ventilation, that can be opened or closed.

It is ideal for people who do not like to open their windows often, if no air bricks are in the room, or if your property suffers with condensation. Our standard size for the trickle vent is 4000mm² and the sightline trickle vent grill is set into the profile. The acoustic trickle vent offers a 41DB sound reduction.

Cosmetic

These are sashes that do not open and have no handle. They give an equal and balanced look to your frame by putting a non opening sash into all fixed sections.

Dependant on the option you choose the cosmetics of the window may change. The child hook and eye catch is hidden discretely inside the sash. A cabled restrictor is screwed onto the inside of the frame and the sash. These are only available in white.

Restrictors limit the opening of the window to 100mm. When released, they facilitate the full opening of the window. The hook and eye concealed can be manually overridden. The cabled restrictor requires a key to be able to release the restrictor for the window to fully open.

A 10mm aluminium coupler is recommended on door combinations, or for larger frames needing extra support.

A standard hinge will be fitted to all top hung windows. On side hung windows there is the option of a standard hinge which will be a fire escape hinge that opens to 90^° when fully open. An easy clean option is also a fire hinge opening to 90^°, but these can be slid in the frame so that a hand can be fitted down the side and they can be cleaned externally from the inside with ease. The restrictor hinge holds the window at around 100mm and can be released. This can be used instead of a cable restrictor or hook and eye concealed restrictor. The restrictor hinge cannot be used for weight building regulation specifications.

To obtain a fully compliant window for PAS24, hinge guards are required. The hinge guard only engages if the hinge side of the window sash is being attacked, clamping together to support the window sash from jemmying.

Please note that should your windows need to meet PAS24 regulations, then you would need to allow for the following:

• All fixed windows would require laminate outer and toughened inner glazing (glass tab)
• All doors would require laminate outer and toughened inner glazing (glass tab)
• All windows adjoining a door would require laminate outer and toughened inner glazing (glass tab)
• All front doors require an area that can be seen out of, either within the glass, or a spyhole fitted (hardware tab)
• Letterboxes installed need to be installed with a deflection shield (hardware tab)
• Barrel type needs to be 3 Star Anti Bump Barrel (hardware tab)

Your glass type represents how strong your glass is. Annealed is the common name for float glass and tempered glass is the common name for toughened glass.

Laminated glass is two pieces of annealed glass which is stuck together with a film. Laminated glass is classed as a safety glass usually used for extra security such as shop fronts and part Q building regulation requirements.

The rating of your glass represents how energy efficient your glass is.

A Rated is the best glass for energy rating, while none rated is the lowest but also the cheapest.

The acoustic value represents how much sound the glass can dampen; the higher the acoustic value the more sound it can dampen. High acoustic glass is ideal for areas where there is going to be a lot of external noise.
